Self Defense - Physical Security

Self defense is protecting your home or business. But in reality, your own self defense, your family’s safety and your property’s security, depends entirely on the steps you take to protect yourself, your loved ones, your home or your business!
Physical security is often overlooked (and its importance underestimated) in favor of more technical and dramatic issues. However, breaches of physical security can be carried out with little or no technical knowledge on the part of an attacker. Moreover, accidents and natural disasters are a part of everyday life, and in the long term, are inevitable. Why not be prepared for them?
Physical Security focuses on the protection of people, property and facilities through the use of security forces, security systems and security procedures. Physical security can include the use of barriers, alarms, locks, access control systems, protective lighting, closed circuit televisions, and other state-of-the-art security technology.
There are three main components to physical security. First, obstacles can be placed in the way of potential attackers and facilities or homes can be hardened against accidents and environmental disasters. Such measures can include multiple locks, fencing, walls, fireproof safes, and water sprinklers. Second, surveillance and notification systems can be put in place, such as lighting, heat sensors, smoke detectors, intrusion detectors, alarms, and cameras. Third, methods can be implemented to apprehend attackers (preferably before any damage has been done) and to recover quickly from accidents, fires, or natural disasters.
Today’s society is not only becoming more complex, it has also become more violent while the tolerance of criminal activity has risen. With budget stresses because of our continued war on terrorism, our local police have become a reactive force and can no longer offer as many preventative measures as they did in the past. This translates to crimes on your property and the potential liability whether valid or not. For a home owner, business owner or for that matter, any facility owner’s peace-of-mind, a safe and well-designed facility is critical, whether building a new construction or evaluating an existing one. To the person who lives alone, to the family, the business, the school, bank or office building we are all fearful of crime happening to us or a loved one.
Let us be the ones to assess your home or facility and its operations, with respect to people and property, so that problems and vulnerabilities can be identified and prioritized so that corrections can be made; risks can be minimized; and liability mitigated and future exposure reduced or prevented. Ultimately the goal is to provide a secure and safe environment for families, friends, clients, patrons and employees.
Call us today for a security site survey of your facility. Regardless of what type of facility it is, we can provide you peace of mind knowing you and all the people and things you care about are secure as they can possibly be. (See also Missing Link Security ).
